Research Focus
The Pi group at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to the advancement and application of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in ophthalmology. Our focus is on developing and improving OCT technology to improve the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of ocular diseases, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes and quality of life.

OCT has become an indispensable tool due to its ability to offer non-invasive, micron-resolution, dye-free, and 3D imaging in vivo. As a result of its ability to provide detailed and accurate images of the eye, OCT is widely used in clinics and research to image living animals and humans. It has revolutionized the diagnosis and management of various ocular conditions such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
