Asad F. Durrani, MD

Asad F. Durrani, MD is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC Department of Ophthalmology specializing in diseases of retina and vitreous. He attended Johns Hopkins University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He  attended the university of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan W. K. Kellogg Eye Center and served as chief resident in his final year. He completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital, where he also served as the American Society of Retina Specialists Fellows-in-Training Section Co-Chair. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Durrani's research interests include evolving therapies for age-related macular degeneration, efficacy and efficiency of retinal detachment repair, novel imaging techniques,  ocular trauma, and sub-retinal gene therapy.
